Summer...Stitched Offset Title

Hey there Silhouette fans, Niki here with another way to use the 'offset' tool. This is without a doubt, my favourite tool to use in the Silhouette software.

I started off my choosing a title - Summer by Jodie York and I resized it to the size I wanted.

I then opened up the Offset window and applied an offset. I wanted it quite large so stuck to the default offset setting of 0.125.

I wanted to cut the outer edge but stitch the inside edge, so I selected the middle section and in Cut Settings, selected 'perforate edge'. I then left the outer edge simply as 'cut' and then sent to my Silhouette. This cut out my title but left me with little holes in the middle to stitch through.

I choose a very busy patterned paper to cut my title out of, but even wit the stitching around the middle line the word wasn't very clear (lesson learned!) so to make it clearer I applied a very thin layer of white paint within the stitched areas which made it much better.

I then created my layout which was great fun :)

Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you'll give this a go. Happy scrapping xx

  1. This is a fabulous technique Niki. I don't trust myself with paint around stitching projects (too clumsy), but wondering if there is a way that I can make this work with vellum?
