Glitter sticker decorated tags

Hi everyone. It's Verity here from Pretty Little Button bringing you another project. I have used the printable glitter sticker sheets on before and created printed stickers to 'seal' your gifts when wrapping. To see those, click HERE. For today's post, I have not printed on the sticker sheets but used them as is to create fun window decorations for gift tags. As they are sticker paper, they already have the adhesive on it, so it makes it much quicker to assemble. Especially with intricate cuts. In addition, I used the adhesive corrugated card for speed and to add some texture to the tags.

Glitter sticker decorated tags details:

First of all, decided on the size of the window you will be adding your decoration too. You can either die cut the tag shapes out with your silhouette machine or use a manual die cutting machine. I used the latter as I wanted a tag with a faux stitching effect around the edge. You can do this on the silhouette, I just personally prefer the one I have as a die for manual die cutting.  Therefore, I went for a 1.5-inch circle for my window. To make sure you decoration will fit in the window, draw a circle 0.5inches wider in diameter in your design space.

Next, add your design to the circle and shrink down until it fits inside the circle. The snowflake I used is quite delicate when it was shrunk, so I added a very small offset '0.01' to just add a little more bulk to it. This will make it easy to cut and weed!

Here is a side by side view of the offset on the left and the original on the right. You can see it does make a difference even with a small offset

Next, I add two other designs as seen below. I also added these designs with the circle. The ones in e. the circle will create a knock out effect when the circle sticker is removed from the shape - i.e the snowflake will be see through. And those without a circle will be removed from the sheet and added to vellum and the area around the design will be see-through instead.

Send these to cut using the sticker paper glitter option in the material drop down list.

As you can see below, these are the original settings for the glitter sticker sheet when selected. The above settings are what I used for my machine and blade. My blade is getting quite dull and I had to up the blade depth to get it to cut through the sticker paper but not the backing paper (kiss-cut). I could have doubled cut on a lower blade depth. However, as the design was intricate, I didn't want several passes pulling at the intricacy of the design and tearing it.

So make sure you test cut for your blade and machine!

Glitter sticker decorated tags assembly:

Create a die-cut tag out of the white or kraft adhesive backed corrugated card. Repeat this but cut out of plain white or kraft card. Next, die cut a circle out of the lower bottom of the tags making sure they align up.

Following this, place your sticker decorations onto a piece of vellum paper that is slightly bigger than your die cut circle window on your tag. Next, peel off the backing sheet to the adhesive backed tags and stick your decorations so they peek through the windows. Before covering and sealing the back of the tag to hide the mess, apply one more identical sticker decoration on the back over the position of the of decoration so it lines up.

To finish off your tags, heat emboss a sentiment directly onto the tag and add additional sentiments onto foam mounted black card for contrast. Finally, add a few clear bubbles and nuvo drops to embellish your tags along with ribbon to attach your tags to your presents.

If this has inspired you to try this out, please post below. I would love to see it!

Until next time,

Verity
