Bright and colourful washi tape holders

I'm back today with a fun project using the chipboard to make these fun and practical washi tape holders:

I did say they were bright didn't I Ha!

Here is the shape I used...

It's such a great design as you can make as many or as little of the rows as you want depending on how much of a hoarder you are.

What you will need:

• silhouette cameo (or a portrait if you split the cut into two passes through the machine)
• Silhouette chipboard
• acrylic paints
• wet glue

The first thing I did was open the file...

I measured my washi tapes to see how wide I wanted each storage compartment and then made the design on the page match the measurement, so I went for 3/4" wide.

You see there is a strip on the right hand side, that's for sticking to the box ends to hold them all together, you get the option to choose how many boxes you want to make. I decided that for me I didn't want to use them as I wanted to be able to carry each tray individually to my desk when I was working rather than drag them all. So I needn't have cut that strip but typical me didn't think of that until afterwards HA!

I wanted 3 trays so I passed the design through my machine three times. You can obviously make as many as you want. I know I'll end up adding to mine.

Once the design is cut you need to assemble it. It's just a top and a bottom box shape. I found the easiest way was to use wet glue as I like the wiggle room you get with that rather than a tape where one false move and it can be ruined.

Now as you can see in the original design in the studio, you can choose to cover yours with paper but I didn't like the chipboard showing through so decided to paint mine in colours to match my craft space.

I used acrylic paint as this isn't as 'wet' as other paints and sits well on top of the chipboard. It took three coats of paint to get a really good even coverage but as the paint dries quite quickly it didn't take me long.

The real benefit of painting the chipboard is that it gives it added strength and durability. Mine feel so strong which you want as you will be getting things in and out of them all the time.

I use mine when doing my planner mostly, and I LOVE these, they make me smile every time I use them.
