Silhouette Sketch Pen Storage Box

Hello! Bev here with a tutorial on a simple yet extremely useful design from the Silhouette Design Store.  Your sketch pens will no longer be in a pencil case (or rolling around on your desk) but displayed beautifully in this handy storage box.

What you will need:
  • Silhouette Cameo/Portrait
  • Cardstock
  • Gluestick or glue roller
Step One

This is a cut file available on the Silhouette Design Store.  Once it is imported into your library, open a new page in your program.  The page size will be 12x12 (if you have a cameo) and would need to be adjusted slightly for the portrait.
You will need to ungroup the design to fit it all into one cut job.  The easiest way to do this is to right click and select ungroup.  The next task is to fit it all onto one page, and although a tight squeeze, select the two objects and rotate, using the little green dot at the top of the box and hold down the shift key on your keyboard to ensure it remains straight.

Step Two

The cut lines will be automatically set, but its never a bad idea to double check them to ensure that everything that needs to be cut will be.
Select cardstock as the material and adject your blade accordingly.  I cut with the suggested settings, but it is always a good idea to do a test cut if you are unsure. Send to your machine and your design will be cut out perfectly.

Step Three

Remove the cardstock from the mat and you will have two pieces ready for assembly.

The great point about this design is that it is very easy to assemble.  There are perforation lines to show you clearly where you need to fold.
Use a gluestick or sticky tape to adhere the sides of both parts of the design and slot the top onto the bottom, forming the box.  Fill with your pens and you are finished! A super simple and easy design but very effective.

I have really enjoyed sharing with you and look forward to seeing what you create!
