NYC Countdown Stickers

Hi! Bev here with a tutorial creating these New York countdown stickers.  It is my husbands 40th birthday this year and he is a person who never likes to be centre of attention so in the absence of a party we have decided to take a trip across the pond to the big apple!  I created these stickers as a way of keeping track of how long there is to go in my planner.

What you will need:
  • Silhouette Cameo® or Silhouette Portrait®
  • Silhouette White Sticker Paper
Step One

Import the image into a fresh page on your Silhouette Studio.  Resize and use the trace tool to trace and detach the image.  Select the image to be traced and turn off the high pass filter.  Increase the threshold until the image turns yellow and decrease the Scale to neaten up the edges.

Change the line and fill colour if you prefer another (I chose black) and open up a text box to create the countdown part.

Copy and paste as many as you need and change the number counting down.  Once you reach 1 month, begin a weekly countdown and then a daily.  This part is quite laborious but the results are worth it!

Using the replicate tool, make copies of the New York image and arrange the countdown text boxes over the top of each one.

Before you create the offset, ensure that the text and images are set to 'no cut'

Using the offset tool, create and offset around the first sticker.  With the exception of some of the longer words one size will fit all.  Copy multiple times and use the centre tool to ensure the text and image are centred to the offset box.

Use settings for Silhouette Sticker paper and send your paper to print.

Load into your Silhouette and cut the stickers.

And the stickers are complete! I am excited to plan for our trip and use these as a visual reminder of just how close the trip will be as time passes!

  2. Hi! Great tutorial but are you aware that it is a cutting file and there was no need to trace it?
