Scrapbooking with Steph - Paige Taylor Evans - Diagonal Stripes background

Hello all and welcome to this weeks blog post!

So I found this lovely background cutfile searching under Paige Evans in the Silhouette Store https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/219450?search=diagonol+stripes+background&sortby=relevance&submitted_search=true and cut it out of textured card on the textured card stock setting passing through twice and then trimmed it down to 11.5 x 11.5 inches.  I flipped it over and covered the back with foam risers before backing the whole piece with another piece of textured card stock (this time a pink piece!)

I found a sheet of colour block card in my stash which I gutted to create a 1" boarder and attached my backed cutfile onto this.

I put that to one side whilst I fussy cut lots of circles from a Maggie Holmes paper and again placed this on foam risers before sticking them to the cutfile.  I had some chipboard frames, one which I put my photo inside and the other I popped under it to give the layout more depth.

I attached a few more chipboard accents. With the buttons I added floss bows before sticking them down and lastly I added my two titles "Embrace Life",a pink plastic perspective saying "Fierce" and some enamel hearts to complete the layout!

If you Love Me Let Me Sleep Layout | Niki Rowland

Hey there, Niki here today with this layout about my little baby. I love to document the things my children do and regularlyy look to the Silhouette Design Store for fun ways to document these things. This phrase 'if you love me let me sleep' was great for documenting his sleeping.

It didn't work for me in the original format as I wanted a horizontal design. So I ungrouped the design so the words could be moved around and re-arranged.

I then put some of the words at the top of my layout and then 'let me sleep' at the bottom of the layout. The word 'Sleep' I super-sized. I then sent it to cut but I didn't want to cut the word 'sleep' so in cut settings I simply highlighted the work and selected 'no cut'. This means that the rest of the design cut but not the word 'sleep'

I then wanted to cut the word 'sleep' out of patterned paper so I ran it through my silhouette again, this time selecting 'no cut' for the top words and 'cut' for the word 'sleep'.

I then back filled the letters cut into the white cardstock background and added the words cut from patterned paper. I popped them up on foam pads.

I used a mixture of Maggie Holmes Willow Lane ad Amy Tangerine Shine On for this layout.

Design of the Week - Autumn Word Art - 13th November 2018

Hello, Karen here with my Wednesday DOTW post and this week it's a word art design.

This design could be used for so many different things - home decor, clothing, a card or as I have for the title of a scrapbook page.

I decided that I didn't want any reference to Fall on my page so ungrouped the words and removed 'FALL' and I (heart) Fall.  I then decided to dispence with 'late nights' because to me autumn signifies dark evenings and early nights!

To make the remaining words fit around my design I rearranged them, adding some to the bottom left of my photo and then cut the design from adhesive backed cardstock.  This makes the job of backfilling so much easier when the card is already sticky.

Next I used this file, added an offset and then used three different coloured sketch pens to draw it.

My final, Silhouette, addition to this scrapbook page was to cut two banners of leaves from this design, which I reduced in size.

I then found some stickers and leaves that I had used on a previous page here which went perfectly with all the other elements on this page.

Design of the Week - Flourish Pumpkin - 6th November 2018

Hello, hello - Karen here with my Wednesday post using the DOTW which is a fancy Flourish Pumpkin.

 I started by filling the pumpkin with an orange damask pattern using this pattern.

First I ungrouped the design and then I chose the fill option and finally chose the damask pattern.

I then added a small exturnal offset, resized the pumpkin to 9 ins tall and used the print and cut function to print and cut the pumpkin along with a printable pumpkins design, which I mirrored and overlapped to make a border at the bottom of my page.

For my title I laid out how I wanted the design to look, removed all but the title and used  an orange Silhouette sketch pen with this cut file.

I then assembled my page by first constructing the pumpkin and adding the border at the bottom of the page.  I then rummaged through my stash to find some orange embellishments and the number 31 for the 31st October.

Design Of The Week - Thankful Grateful & Blessed - 29th October 2018

Hello, welcome to my DOTW post on a Thursday!  I like to mix it up sometimes so changing the day of the DOTW will keep you on your toes :o)

This week's design is a cut file title

At the moment I am loving print and cut files, I used to struggle with them but now they seem to work like a breeze.  Although, with the onset of darker days and living in a cottage with small windows and therefore little natural light, I do sometimes have to shine a torch into my Silhouette to aid the registration.

I turned the cut file into a print and cut file, see here how to do this, I also used these print and cut files to add an autumnal feel to the page and to compliment the photo of my two girls.

I didn't want the 'Give Thanks on my wreath and I also wanted to have an internal offset so I used the eraser tool to carefully remove the 'Give Thanks'.

I then used the 'Trace Tool' to trace the wreath.

The next step was to select the wreath and 'cut' it using ctrl+x.

Next I released the compound path

I deselected the centre of the design and deleted the remaining pieces. Then I added an internal offset.

Finally I removed all but the offset line,  Then pasted my wreath back ctrl v, which gave me a wreath with the centre ready to be cut out. 

I added this to an A4 page, with registration marks, along with the leaves (which I had reduced in size) and the title. 

Once printed and cut I was ready to assemble my page.  I started by arranging this cut file around my page and used a sketch pen to create my border.  

I then added a piece of patterned paper, my title, wreath and photo and finished it off with some stickers.
