Cheryl's Wedding Chipboard

Hi, I'm Cheryl and this is my very first design team project for the Silhouette Blog. I look forward to sharing my projects with you, and I'm very excited about this first one. Spring has sprung and Summer is just around the corner, so it's coming to that time of year when we hear the church bells ringing. The blushing brides to be will be going to pick their dresses if they haven't already done so, then it's down to their wedding stationery and all the other items they require to make it the perfect day, including favour boxes, which is the inspiration for today's project.

Materials Needed
Silhouette Chipboard
Papers (optional but I chose natural option)
Ribbon
Pearl Gems to decorate
Cameo 3
Silhouette Tool kit

From the Store you will need to get file:
3D Favour Box (7) Design ID #164239

Here's your step by step guide of how to make your very own 3D favour box:

Step one: Open the silhouette software with the file you have purchased. Here's how your screen should look...

You will see the design laid out in A4 shape, though this file can be done in either A4 or 12x12, so best to double check that you have selected the size you need on the page setup size (on the white part of screen) and if you chose 12x12, like the example here, you will see the screen changes to look like this:

Choosing this size is a great way to demonstrate just how big it is, making it ideal for bigger wedding favour ideas. To change the size, simply click with the pointer to get the square shape around the file like this, making sure there are a few black lines like this:

At this screen, We want to go to the top right hand corner and drag it in as far as we can on the mat, making sure that the holes on the tab section are dragged over. Then, we will do the exact same with the bottom left hand corner. Now, it should (hopefully) look like this:

Once you see this screen and are happy with the size, double check to make sure that everything is in place, then choose the send option in the upper top right hand side your screen and it should now look like this:

The thick red line is showing all the elements that have to be cut out with your machine. As we are using the Silhouette Chipboard over to the right hand side in the upper section under Tool 1 you should see the material options click on this, and look for the Chipboard option and select. Then look at the blade and speed section at the bottom of the Tool 1 choice and this should change automatically for the material selected.

At this point, We would put the chipboard onto our cutting mat and line it up and load the mat onto the machine, then choose to send it to cut. Now, the image you have chosen will begin to cut.

Now to put it all together

Once the cutting has finished, unload the mat from the machine and with a spatula, go round the outside of the design and lift up and remove the scraps of chipboard that you don't need. Now lift the edges of the cutout design and all the small off cuts from the internal shape will fall out as we lift the design. If successful, it should look something like this:

At the middle of the design, to make the base of the favour, fold all 4 of the outer edges up. At the top of each edge, you will see tabs with slots, fold these tabs inwards. You will notice that the slots go 2 different ways, this helps when tying the ribbon through to hold it in place, as demonstrated below...

Finally, to finish it off we would go around the outside and where it is appropriate I put the pearl gems as demonstrated below. So there you have it, a lovely little handmade rustic wedding favour gift box.

I hope you have enjoyed this tutorial and look forward to you joining me in a fortnight for the next fun project in our wedding theme. I can't wait to share this with you.

Thanks
Cheryl xx
