Sunday's with Steph - Paige Taylor Evans Butterfly Cutfile

Hello Crafters Steph here and welcome to this weeks blog post!

So today I used the following cutfile featuring a beautiful butterfly cutfile by Paige Taylor Evans https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/267051?search=paige+evans+butterfly&sortby=relevance&submitted_search=true I loaded my mat with Bazzill basics diamond card and cut it out using the material setting of cardstock, textured heavy 80g and on two passes as I usually do.

I used the rest of the card I hadn't used to smooch some paint onto the card in peach, pink, lemon and flicked it with gold. Once dried I backed the cutfile with the painted card and then painted some cut off pieces of card solid gold before backing the body of the butterfly with this and popping it to one side.

I used another piece of Bazzill basics textured diamond card and cut it down to 11 x 11 inches.  I gutted some orange patterned paper I had and attached them together so I was back to a 12 x 12 inch square.

I attached my photo to a coordinating piece of paper and put it down towards the bottom of my page in the centre ensuring that there was enough room for the butterfly to fit onto the righthand side of my layout which I attached using foam risers.

I then attached lots of lovely sayings along the central column of my layout along with some enamel dots and love hearts.

Finally I added a small embellishment cluster to the top left hand side to complete my layout.

Thank you so much for reading my blog today.....until next week, happy crafting!

Craft Box decoration

Hello, it's Verity here from Pretty Little Button. I have a quick post today showing you some craft room decoration for you. I used a lovely design from the design store, which you can find details for at the end of the post. I think a lot of crafters can relate to this expression! When you the design in the store, it comes all in one colour. However, I ungrouped the elements so I could cut them out of different coloured adhesive vinyl for more interest. I'm showing you my tip on how to line up different colour vinyl cuts from the same design before you have adhered it to your project.

Craft Box decoration process:

To start, I always draw a shape that is of the same size as the area I'm going to add my design too. This helps make sure my design looks the appropriate size for the space and so you don't oversize your design.

I also like to change the colour line of the shape off red so I know this isn't part of the design.

Next, add the design and before you right click to ungroup the design, resize the design by dragging one of the corner squares into the middle whilst holding down the shift button. The shift button is important as the design will resize equally and proportionally even if you don't drag inwards symmetrically.

Now, this is the part when your design choices can come out. I coloured the back shape grey as I planned on putting the decoration onto a grey wooden box. Right-click the design and select ungroup. Continue doing this until you have all the elements you wish to be separate from one separated. Take each element in turn and using the fill window, select a colour.

Now you could skip this bit as you will only be cutting the outlines out of coloured vinyl and not printing these. However, I find it helps the design process to visualise the ned product and it can help you decide on what vinyl colours to go with.

Before I sent the elements to cut, I add squares in a variety of positions in the design. I made sure each design had a square grouped to it, so when each element was cut out, it also cut out a square. This square will help you layer up the design elements, making sure you keep the alignment of the design.

You could skip adding the squares if you can do it by eye or aren't too fussed how aligned your end design is.

When you weed all the design elements, make sure you don't weed the squares off!

Use transfer tape to layer up your design. I started with the bottom element first, layering the design elements up as you go up the design, each time making sure I align the squares of each element up. Once all the elements for the square had been aligned, peel the squares off the transfer tape. I left the top square on for the picture to show you the alignment.

When you place the design onto your craft box, use a scraper to burnish the vinyl onto the project and peel off the transfer tape.

Until next time,

Bunny scrapbook pages

Good evening Silhouette Buddies, sorry I am so late posting today...I was hoping my DT pack of goodies might be delivered so I could showcase the image transfer paper from Silhouette but sadly it hasn't arrived just yet.

So I have stuck with the Easter theme and made a couple of quickish scrapbook pages instead

I loved the Bunny Flourish Shape card

and bought it to make cards but I adapted it slightly so I could use it on a 12 x 12 page. I simply enlarged the main flourish design and card background and removed the unwanted part of the card shape, cutting in white cardstock.

The white against the blue patterned paper seemed a bit too much so I spray painted the cutfile to change up the colour... also creating another 12 x 12 background in the process which I will use for a different project...

Next I added foam pads behind the cutfile sticking it to the patterned paper background. I painted a small blue border around the image, added some small splatters of mist then stuck my rabbit in place.
Adding a small silly selfie with a few Easter embellishments and word stickers...

A title and a cute bunny puffy sticker completed my page...

I made a second page using Every Bunny Welcome

using this as a large title placed slightly to the righ of centre to make room for my photograph. Which meant I covered up the rabbit shape but as you can see after backing the title in various patterned paper I added a lot of rabbit and Easter shapes to add to the bright fun feel of this page...

Wishing everyone a hoppy Easter

with love

Design of the Week - Bunny Ears Props - 16th April 2019

Hello, hello - Karen here with my Wednesday post.  This week the free design is called Bunny Ears Props and I think it is meant to be printed out and sticks added so that you can use them as photo props.  I thought I would add them to a photo of my lovely Kiera as props!

I didn't have any gray or pink card to cut them out so decided to make the design into a print and cut.  I set the cut lines to 'No Cut' and added a 0.05 offset.  I then found a title in my library and decided to make that into a Print and Cut design too.  Again I set the cut lines to 'no cut' added an offset and filled the design with pink.

As I was going to print out the props and title I had a look in my library for a print and cut embellishment to add to my page and chose this one.

 https://www.silhouettedesignstore.com/designs/58728

I like to have a border on my page and we all know how much I love my sketch pens so chose this bunny card as the basis of my border.

I removed the dotted line and resized it to .75in tall and then replicated it and moved it so that there was a slight overlap, and repeated until I had six groups of rabbits.

I then made them into a compound path and merged them.  I replicated this around all sides of my page, merging them once I was satisfied with their position. Next  this design (x3), was added above and below where I planned on putting my title.

I printed all my elements onto a piece of A4 card and cut them out.

Once everything was prepared I cut a slit around Kiera's head in the photo to enable me to slip the bunny ears behind her head so that she appears to be wearing them.

I then placed the nose onto hers and my 'Funny Bunny' was ready to add to my page.
